You are here: Home Blog 8000 Ruby and Rails developers and counting..

The popularity of Ruby on Rails continues to grow - the number of developers now listed on WWR has just risen past the 8000 mark.

We recently added toolbox functionality to the site where members can show which Ruby gems and Rails plugins they use. It's interesting to see the wide variety of libraries currently in use and who is using them.

The line up of Ruby gems installed by authoritative members stands as follows:

  1. Sqlite3 Ruby
  2. Capistrano
  3. Ruby Inline
  4. Piston
  5. Red Cloth
  6. Zen Test
  7. Ferret
  8. Mysql
  9. Parse Tree
  10. Ruby2ruby

Grab the full list here.

The list of Rails plugins also makes for an interesting study. Annotate models leads the pack with Acts as Taggable close behind.
